ArcSight Unveils Fraud Detection Solution at Protect ‘08

ArcSight solution delivers enterprise-wide fraud detection through cross-channel correlation, anomaly detection and pattern matching

ArcSight Protect ’08, WASHINGTON, DC – September 8, 2008ArcSight, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARST), a leading global provider of compliance and security management solutions, today announced the ArcSight AntiFraud Accelerator Solution built on the award-winning ArcSight SIEM Platform. The solution combats fraud on an organization-wide basis, leveraging state-of-the-art Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) capabilities that can process vast amounts of data together with advanced analytic tools for cross-channel correlation, anomaly detection and pattern matching. Existing fraud solutions are single application-centric and miss the holistic set of internal and external activities necessary to comprehensively detect fraud. The solution includes fraud-specific rules sets and user monitoring technology, and is delivered with ArcSight Professional Services to tailor the solution to customers’ specific environments.

Fraud detection and mitigation requires comprehensive analysis and correlation of all user activity including application usage, data accesses or other system interactions to detect irregularities that signal fraud is occurring. Enormous amounts of data from thousands of applications, databases, identity management systems, hosts and network infrastructure must be rapidly analyzed and stored to address this problem. The ArcSight solution addresses these needs, which sets it apart from other fraud offerings. The solution collects and analyzes events from a broad vendor-neutral ecosystem including network infrastructures, applications, data stores and other security and fraud solutions. Not only does the solution analyze data from logs and transactions in real time across the computing enterprise, but it also stores it for data-mining, forensic searches and compliance. The offering provides fraud detection across web, legacy and SOA applications and their respective infrastructures alike. It is designed for compatibility with existing point fraud solutions and will enable companies with such investments to see the entire fraud picture.

The ArcSight AntiFraud Accelerator Solution reduces false positives by drawing on advanced analytics to sift through raw event data and automatically prioritize risk levels before escalating suspicious risk behavior to fraud investigators. Anomalies are easy to track with graphical dashboards, and reports can be generated to meet the various requirements of technical and non-technical practitioners, who may be internal/external auditors, fraud/criminal investigators, security analysts, managers or executives.

“The AntiFraud Accelerator Solution delivers what organizations need for enterprise-wide fraud detection and mitigation,” said Reed Henry, senior vice president, marketing, ArcSight. “Fraud point solutions don’t provide the depth of protection that the ArcSight solution can by correlating activity across all channels where fraud may occur. Fraud is going undetected; companies now have a great option to combat its spread.“
