ArcSight Customer FAA Named Most Effective Aviation Security Program, Project or Agency

CUPERTINO, CA – November 3, 2009ArcSight, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARST), a leading global provider of security and compliance management solutions that protect enterprises and government agencies, today announced that it has been named the winner of the First Annual Homeland Security Awards from Government Security News (GSN) in the Best Security Incident and Event Management category. ArcSight also extended congratulations to its customer, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), for winning Most Effective Aviation Security Program, Project or Agency. The Homeland Security Award winners were announced at an awards dinner in New York City on October 27, 2009.

The Homeland Security Awards were created to honor the dedicated government officials at federal, state and local levels who have created and executed effective security programs across the country, along with leading vendors in IT and physical security who have researched, developed and supplied innovative security solutions during the past year.

ArcSight ESM monitors all events across the enterprise, and uses powerful correlation and analysis to identify business and technology threats. ArcSight ESM is used by a number of U.S. government agencies to meet the difficult challenges of maintaining confidentiality, availability and integrity to powerful and at-risk networks. According to industry analyst firm IDC, ArcSight is the worldwide market-share leader in SIEM in 2008. With ArcSight ESM, government agencies have comprehensive visibility into their networks to protect confidential data and critical systems.

The FAA’s Cyber Security Management Center (CSMC) is responsible for cyber security incident response for the FAA and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). The CSMC uses ArcSight ESM to make sure the FAA’s networks are as secure as possible by monitoring its infrastructure, which has been declared a critical infrastructure component for the United States. Through increased detection and reduced response time, the FAA CSMC team is now more aggressive and proactive against threats to the network.

"ArcSight is very pleased to receive this recognition from GSN. Homeland security is of national importance and it is necessary that our customers are able to effectively protect the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of their business operations.  ArcSight provides government organizations with the real-time intelligence required to identify true internal and external threats," said Tom Reilly, president and CEO of ArcSight.

ArcSight and its products continue to gain the respect of the industry. Already in 2009, ArcSight ESM / Logger received the gold in the SIEM category in the Information Security™ Magazine and Searchsecurity.com™ 2009 Readers’ Choice Awards, and ArcSight’s Network Configuration Manager received the bronze in the Policy and Risk category. ArcSight was also named one of the ‘Best Places to Work’ in the Bay Area by the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal and the San Francisco Business Times. In addition, ArcSight’s partner program was awarded a Five-Star Partner Program certification in Everything Channel's 15th annual 2009 Partner Program Guide.
